eduroam (education roaming) is a secure international roaming service for users in Higher Education. It allows you to connect to the wireless network of any participating institution if you have an account at just one of them. Please refer to http://www.eduroam.org/ for further information and world wide coverage .
A list of supported devices can be found here. The actual list is more extensive, Android phones seem to work nicely with eduroam, for example.
Configuration is quite easy: Just connect to the “eduroam” wireless network with your device (Windows, Mac or Linux) and use your credentials from any participating partner.
In case you want to use your username and password from IST Austria, please make sure to enter the username in the form firstname.lastname@example.org. (More information for IST Austria users is available at: How to use the WiFi)
If you encounter any problems, please contact our IT-Department via email@example.com.
Eduroam works by connecting several RADIUS servers at different authority levels. Service hardware has to be capable of handling the IEEE 802.1X standard. For further information, please click here.
